about angela + vanessa

Family-oriented and grounded by devout faith and unwavering values, these two leading ladies keep it 100 whether they’re handling business, supporting a positive cause or kicking back with loved ones. Born to hip-hop legend, Joseph Simmons, aka “Rev Run” of Run D.M.C., Angela and Vanessa Simmons grew up influenced by the culture and fashion of hip-hop. Today, as successful business owners of the lifestyle brand Pastry and role models for the Girl Scouts of the USA, Angela and Vanessa Simmons have successfully positioned themselves as smart, savvy business women who stay on their grind and set a positive example for young girls.

Angela and Vanessa initially gained popularity in 2005 when they appeared on MTV’s Run’s House an MTV reality series following the life of the Simmons family. Showing that a family that prays together, stays together, Run’s House revealed everyday life of hip-hop’s first family (Joseph, Justine, Vanessa, Angela, Daniel, Russell and Miley Simmons), and captured the growth of the Simmons kids over the course of six seasons, most memorably Vanessa and Angela as they prepared to make the move from New Jersey to LA to pursue their future in fashion and entertainment.

In 2009, Angela and Vanessa landed their own reality series, Daddy’s Girls, a spin-off of Run’s House, which followed the sisters to LA where they set up shop for the new Pastry headquarters and started a new chapter in their life.

Today, as owners of Pastry, a fashion and footwear brand for junior girls, Angela and Vanessa create fun, stylish fashion that supports self-expression in young women. From what initially began as an endeavor in footwear, Pastry has evolved into a complete lifestyle brand that continues to grow, securing the pair as young business minds who are committed and creative. Additionally, Angela and Vanessa strive to set positive examples for other women and young girls through community involvement alongside the Girl Scouts of the USA and various leadership conferences.

Fashionable, inspired and a faithful believer in life, love and vegetarianism, Angela Simmons, born September 18, 1987, is co-owner of Pastry with her sister Vanessa Simmons where she develops designs for the brand’s line of sneakers. As a graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Angela has a penchant for all things fashion and can be seen rocking the latest and greatest in trends that reflect her constantly evolving style. A daughter to one of the pioneers of hip-hop, Angela’s creativity, relentless drive and willingness to work hard has led to success. She supports various organizations benefiting young women, advocates on behalf of PETA and previously worked as an editor for Word Up! magazine where she curated content for youth covering teen issues, fashion and music. When she’s not pursuing new projects or at the Pastry headquarters cooking up what’s next, Angela is sweating it out at the gym, indulging in some retail therapy and spending time with friends and family.

Born August 5, 1983, Vanessa is a model, actress and co-owner of the lifestyle brand Pastry with her younger sister Angela Simmons. As the oldest of her siblings, Vanessa keeps things classy and is naturally ambitious, devoted to chasing down her dreams, and even more devoted to family. A graduate from St. John’s University with a degree in Communications, Vanessa stays busy with modeling, (she was selected as one of Maxim’s “Hot 100” in 2006) is an advocate for young women’s leadership, and continues to pursue a career in acting, which includes a past role on Guiding Light and roles in Boogie TownSpeed Dating, and Dysfunctional Friends. When Vanessa isn’t jet-setting from coast to coast for her various career endeavors, she’s spending time with family, perusing the Web for new DIY projects and trying out at-home beauty remedies.
