It Is Easy To Make Your Toddler Feed 10 Times With These 10 Ways!

The book was being written name pretty simple cooking, when we were only two in the family, and then a giant surprise came into a path, our son Larson, which were adopted from birth. And he is the one, who has completed our family.

Before Larson came into our lives, a blog called A couple cooks was continued by us. A blog was only about making and eating healthy food, and vegetable oriented by helping each other as a couple. Then we decided to make our son a part of cooking meals and having them. And it became a routine for all three of us. As he has turned one, it has become quite easier to make him a part of our most loveable thing, i.e.; food. Below mentioned are 10 easy strategies for toddler feeding those are being used in our house:

  1. Starting a day with a real food: Breakfast is said to be the easiest thing to do when it comes to cooking. You can use organic yogurt with low sugar, peanut butter and, whole grain bread, fruits, eggs, and homemade oatmeal.
  2. Making a food simple to eat: Normally, toddler loves to eat the food which they can hold, like whole green beans, roasted carrots, strips of red pepper, pieces of whole grain, bananas, bread, etc.
  3. Making dinners which can be enjoyed by the whole family: You must cook for the whole family and not just for the toddler. Usually, Smoky lentil stew is the biggest hit at our home.
  4. Seasoning of your taste is important: Normally, toddlers are interested in eating food from our dishes, rather than their own, so we make his dish a normal one, and not the typical “kid food”. And then you can show that how much you love that food as well. Then a toddler can turn to eat adult food slowly.
  5. Sweet treats must be all natural: Try to make the sweet treats from natural sweet ingredients. Our favorite one is frozen yogurt where there is the filling of natural strawberry yogurt pie and freezes them. On freezing keep them in a sealed container in a freezer. And give it to a toddler at the end of the meal.
  6. Smoothies are the hit: Smoothies are the best way to load nutrients to the kids, as long as they are not too sweet or bitter in taste.
  7. Eggs: If a toddler does not wish to have anything that you eat then scrambled eggs is the best solution for it. Whipping can be done.
  8. Choose homemade versions for kids: Our son’s favorite food is fries. We opt for homemade oven fries, rather than going for a restaurant or frozen fries. Potatoes hand cut with olive oil and bake them in the oven until crisp. As kids might be unaware of germy table tops so use disposable mats.
  9. Adding flair: You can make star toasts. Food with different shapes to attract kids and also to adults as well.
  10. Have patience and faith: A book called French kids eats everything says; kids should eat the same food at least seven times, rather more than that. Rather than thinking of a toddler doesn’t like this food, think that he has tried it several times now. And try to eat food together, and it doesn’t work out for the decided dinner then try again for the next day. We both think that it is the best to cook a meal and have it together which is the best solution to introduce our toddler to adult food. For that, we avoid cooking for him separately. Do not forget that letting your kid to use appropriate best flatware by their own will improve their appetite & brain’s fine motor skills.

Smoky Red Lentil Stew (for 3-4 persons):

Ingredients:

2 large carrots, 1 yellow onion, 2 stalks celery, 3 garlic cloves, 3 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon vinegar, 2 spoons paprika, ¼ teaspoon cumin, 1/8 cayenne, 1 ¼ cup red lentils, 1 quart vegetable broth, ¾ kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper 2 spoons lemon juice Plain Greek yogurt for garnishing.

Decorating My Whole New House With Paintings.

I just came across some of the first before pictures I took of the house and thought they would be fun to share.  Since the buying and painting process happened during Chris’ busy season I took care of the painting at night after I got home.  I was lucky and got to paint an empty house since we still had our apartment…not so lucky that we had to double up on rent and mortgage for a month or two.  Oh well, we’re homeowners now.

I ended up getting a primer on part/most of some walls before I remembered to take a picture.  Blame the excitement of first time home ownership!

Master Bedroom –  previous owners had their kiddos sharing this room, hence the ORANGE (it’s so “in yo face” that it calls for all CAPS).  This room is huge, at least to us, and as a sweet little bonus – two light switches to control the recessed lights…one right by what is now my side of the bed!

Master Bathroom – I love this room!  Why you ask, because, while I think it’s safe to say that our humble abode is of modest size, this.room.is.luxury.  Like bigger than my 1st dorm room luxury.  I honestly didn’t think we would be this lucky with the master bath in our first place – score!

Upstairs Landing/Closet – This is another room I’m pretty gosh darn thrilled about.  You guessed it, it eventually got turned into a closet area for me.  I usually try to stay away from “girly” decor/ colours but I’ve even been debating pink lately.  The inner lover of grey in me just threw up a bit in her mouth at that last statement but it could really happen…just probably not the wall colour. Check out these best carpet cleaner for pets in case of your dog ruin it

Living Room – I consider this room our pride and joy currently.  Before moving in we agreed that we wanted to get one room uber comfy as fast as possible and more importantly, done right.  This room won with a new couch, new rug, new curtains, and an oar.

Dining Room – This room has probably been the most neglected since we moved in (until recently).  To be honest, we have yet to have a meal in there, mainly due to a lack of chairs.  We even had Zeke’s crate in there for the first 6 months or so…eye sore.

Guest Bedroom – Formerly known as the master bedroom to the previous owners is awesome.  Here are some guest room ideas,  It’s a great size and actually has two (small) closets.  We currently use one as a coat closet since our home doesn’t have one designated as such. Two walls were also painted the same burnt orange as the office.

Kitchen – This is another pretty small space.  The flip side, it’s still the largest kitchen either of us has had.  We have some pretty big dreams of a gut job that includes another wall coming down but that’s a few years away still.

Has anyone had any experiences with fun paint colours left behind by previous owners?  What drew/sold you on your home?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

have a summer adventure!

The first day of summer is just a few weeks away, but you can take full advantage of the warm weather now! Here are a few great summertime activities that will fill those long, sunny days to come:

Horseback Riding
Grab your crew and saddle up for a horseback riding adventure! We hit the trail with our pals recently, and this is a great way to spend an entire day with a group of friends. Some programs may even let you plan an afternoon lunch while you’re out on the trail.

Road Trip
Want to get to know your peeps better? Spend hours with them in a car on a road trip. Pack up snacks, load up the iPod and grab two of your best gal-pals for a highway adventure. When it comes to road trips, the journey is always a lot more fun than the destination.

Theme Parks
The adrenaline rush that comes with hopping on a roller coaster and screaming at the top of your lungs never gets old! A visit to your local theme park is a great way to connect with the family while everyone is on summer break, and it’s a fail-proof good time!

Boating Trip
Lots of coastal towns offer boat rental services, so get all of your friends to pitch in and get ready to hit the high seas!

Camping
Feeling outdoorsy? Convince your crew to go on a camping trip! Nature has a way of brining people together, and the memories you’ll make while roughing it will last a lifetime! If you’re not a sleeping bag type girl, try glamping (glamorous camping) instead.

This outfit is perfect for the weekend!

What are some of your favorite summer activities? Tell us about them in the comments section!

announcing the winners of “the bra book”

the bra book

I’ve been hard at work completing my debut Rose by Vanessa Jean collection, and I’m incredibly anxious to show you all what I’ve come up with. So many people have asked me why I named the collection Rose, and it’s simply because to me a rose is very reminiscent of a woman. Very beautiful to look at, but like a rose that has thrones, women have flaws and imperfections that give us a story and that makes us imperfectly PERFECT.

Since it’s swimsuit season, here’s an exclusive peek at some of the bathing suits that will be apart of the line.

What do you think of the swimsuits? I’d love to hear your feedback!

Vanessa

meatless monday: grilled tofu with mediterranean chopped salad

It’s almost summer time, and that means tons of Barbeques and cookouts with family and friends. It can be hard to pass up the hotdogs and hamburgers during these get-togethers, but I found this healthy, meatless BBQ recipe on Delish, and though I haven’t tried it yet, it looks like a great meal for any outdoor bash.

Grilled Tofu with Mediterranean Chopped Salad

Ingredients

Grilled Tofu
1/4 cups lemon juice
1 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/2 teaspoons salt, or to taste
Freshly ground pepper to taste
14 ounces extra-firm tofu, preferably water-packed

Mediterranean Chopped Salad
2  medium tomatoes, seeded and diced
1 cup(s) diced seedless cucumber (1/4 medium)
1/4 cups chopped scallions
1/4 cups coarsely chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cups Kalamata olives, pitted and coarsely chopped
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoons white-wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoons salt, or to taste
Freshly ground pepper, to taste

Instructions

Preheat grill.

Whisk lemon juice, oil, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Reserve 2 tablespoons of this mixture for basting.

Drain and rinse tofu; pat dry. Cut the block crosswise into eight 1/2-inch-thick slices and place in a shallow glass dish. Add remaining marinade and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or for up to 8 hours.

Meanwhile, make the Mediterranean Chopped Salad by combining tomatoes, cucumber, scallions, parsley, olives, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper in a medium bowl; toss gently to mix. Serve within 1 hour.

Lightly oil the grill rack (hold a piece of oil-soaked paper towel with tongs and rub it over the grate). Drain the tofu, discarding marinade. Grill the tofu over medium-high heat, basting occasionally with reserved lemon juice mixture, until lightly browned, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Serve immediately, topped with the salad.

my post-workout smoothie

The last thing you want to do right after exercising is eat a huge meal, but sometimes burning major calories leaves you feeing famished. That’s why I think a smoothie is the perfect post-workout snack. It fills you up, it’s delicious and it’s also easy to control what goes in it so you’re not sabotaging all the hard work you just did.

I love experimenting with new smoothie recipes. Start with fruit (fresh or frozen), juice and ice, and then add your choice of things like Greek yogurt, soy or almond milk, protein powder, peanut or almond butter, greens, avocado, agave and honey.

Here’s one of my favorite smoothie recipes:

1 ripe banana
1 cup frozen berries of your choice
½ cup Greek yogurt
¾ cup orange juice
1 Tbsp. honey
1 cup fresh spinach leaves
crushed ice (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a blender and enjoy!

What’s your go-to post-workout snack?

XOXO,
Angela
